Toyonokuni Information Library (Oita Prefectural Library)
This library is a complex facility where the prefectural library part, the prefectural archives and the prefectural philosophical archives are docked, and the construction design of the building is by the world-famous builder Arata Isozaki.
The reading room, called "Hyakubashira-no-ma", has one hundred pillars connected by horizontal beams. The ceiling is a cross-vaulted structure of plasterboard reinforced with glass fibre, and the distinctive entrance is a box 15m on a side with an inscribed disc at the top.
