The Oita Fragrance Museum opened on November 29, 2007 as a project commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Beppu University. It is a rare museum with the theme of “fragrances”. The museum displays about 3,600 items related to fragrances, which were formerly held by the Oita Fragrance Forest Museum in the former Nozuhara Town, on loan from Oita Prefecture.
Fragrance Museum The museum has a huge collection of perfumes from around the world, as well as historically valuable items such as perfume bottles from the B.C., Rococo, and Art Nouveau periods, incense burners, and distillers. You can also taste rare natural fragrances.
You can also enjoy a natural hot spring footbath in the herb garden. The museum shop and Italian cafe are also popular.
