The Taiokinzan Underground Museum was built using the tunnels of a gold mine that was closed in 1972, and is an underground museum that can be visited 800 meters from the entrance.
The interior is kept at a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius throughout the year, and the museum recreates the conditions of the time in various ways, including a pit more than 500 meters deep where the gold was transported out and the machinery left behind.
In 2007, the site was registered as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization.
You can also try your hand at gold dust mining.
