Mizunokojima Maritime Museum is a Western-style building built in 1903 as a retreat for officials of Mizunokojima Lighthouse, and the facility was renovated in 1986 to become a maritime museum that exhibits a model of Mizunokojima Lighthouse, old fishing tools, and valuable materials about the lighthouse. In 1998, it was designated as a "Registered Tangible Cultural Property" by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
The adjoining Migratory Bird House, like the Maritime Museum, is built in a Meiji-era Western style and is a renovated warehouse of the bailiff's waiting room. The museum displays taxidermied specimens of 62 species and 550 migratory birds that died on impact with the Mizunokojima Lighthouse.
