This facility houses and exhibits the "Fishing Tools of Gamoe", the only systematic and abundant collection of fishing tools from the coast of Bungo Suido to Hyuga Nada, where fishing was flourishing, and is an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. The museum displays many valuable materials for understanding the fishing tools of the southern region of Oita Prefecture.



　The Kamae Sea Museum is the result of the renovation of an abandoned elementary school gymnasium by Shigeru Aoki, a first-class architect from Kamae, Saiki.
