Nogami Yaeko was a female writer from Usuki, known for her novels "Kaijinmaru", "Maze", "Hideyoshi and Rikyu", etc. To honor her great achievement as an active writer until her death at the age of 99, a part of her birthplace is opened to the public as the Literature Memorial Hall. The museum also features a restored study room from her childhood and exhibits over 200 items including her belongings and writings.
From the outside, it looks like one of the traditional private houses, and you can feel closer to Yaiko Nogami who actually spent her childhood here.
