The Kunisaki Peninsula in Oita Prefecture is home to many of Japan's existing stone Buddha statues. Tatsuo Miyajima's Kunitachi Peninsula Art Festival work, installed on a huge rocky area at the Naributsu Iwanui ruins, can be said to be a "modern day polished Buddha" that interprets the passing of the baton of life in his own way.
