The Nakatsu Kimura Memorial Art Museum is a private art museum established by the physician Mataro Kimura, which was purchased by the City of Nakatsu and reopened in October 2010 as the city's permanent exhibition facility.
The museum exhibits Western-style paintings by the artist Tadahiko Nakayama (Chairman of the Nitten), which are of high artistic value, as well as prints, Japanese paintings, tea ceremony utensils and other artifacts related to Nakatsu. The appeal of the paintings here is that they are not in showcases, and visitors can enjoy the works directly up close.
The exhibition is changed regularly, and you can see a variety of works. The museum is located in the vicinity of Nakatsu Castle, so why not take a break from exploring the history of the city to appreciate art?
