The Shiiki Argerich House was completed in May 2015 with the intention of being a "musician's house" suitable for dedicating to Martha Argerich, the world's greatest musician in both name and reality, and as an architecture symbolizing the long history of the "Beppu Argerich Music Festival".
The heart of the House, the Salon, is a hall that achieves reverberant characteristics in pursuit of "clear sound" and "rich resonance" suitable for chamber music performances. There is no boundary between the stage and the audience seats, creating a sense of unity between the performers and the audience in this luxurious space with 150 seats. The warmth of natural wood on the interior walls makes the audience feel as if they are inside a musical instrument.
