The 5th Holt Hall Oita High School Drama Grand Prix 2020, a high school drama competition in Oita, was held in November 2020. As high school students competed to show off their daily achievements, the Oita Prefecture Oita Toyofu High School Drama Club's "Toyogeki", winner of the prestigious "Holt Drama Grand Prix", gave a triumphant performance.

MESSAGE

(About the work) (About the work) In this disaster of Corona, the school has been closed for a long time, and I feel that it was difficult to have contact with people for a year. I wrote this piece with the idea that we need to keep our distance and bring people closer together. There are the feelings of the creator, but there are also the feelings of the people who receive it, so I think you will be able to think about many different things. I also hope that you will come to the theatre and feel the fun of theatre and the beauty of seeing it live.

(About the piece) (About the piece) The theme of the piece is “loneliness”which everyone has experienced at least once. In today's society, people talk about remoteness and distance, but through this work, I felt that everyone's heart is absolutely connected.

I think it was great that we were able to take the script written by the teacher and shape it into our own form, making it into a new piece of work. Also, we could not practice at all due to the influence of Corona, and we had to practice while wearing masks, which was a difficult situation, but I think it was good that we were able to support each other and create the work. I'm grateful that the public will be able to see the play this time, and I want to perform it with care.
